“I have just learned that Roy Cooper, the Radical Left Former Governor of North Carolina, let out 83 murderers from prisons and penitentiaries around the State, with 51 of these prisoners serving life sentences. They ended up committing 25 murders immediately after being released, and Roy Cooper’s reputation will never be the same. He is a TOTAL FRAUD! The reason for releasing them, believe it or not, was because Governor Cooper didn’t want them to catch COVID while in prison. Repeat Violent Offender DeCarlos Brown, Jr., who was put on the streets through release by Cooper, is the infamous murderer of Iryna Zarutska.”

Fact Check Performed On October 12, 2026
A 2021 COVID settlement under Cooper led to the early release or transition of about 3,500-4,234 prisoners, including around 70 convicted of murder and 53 serving life sentences, but not 83 murderers, and there is no evidence of 25 subsequent murders specifically. DeCarlos Brown Jr. served his full sentence and was released in September 2020, five months before the settlement, and was not released early due to it.
